The fully-electric boat project was conceived in 2014 after Gordon Foat of Green MotorSport witnessed the serious level of pollution coming from river boats in London. In Feb 2015 Foat’s team started work on the drive train and preparing the hull. UMA was launched into the water in early Nov 2015. It has been regularly ploughing up and down the Thames from Nine Elms to Westminster for the last few years. The boat was used to test and evaluate the motor and battery system, as well as provide clean green daily transport along one of the most demanding tidal rivers in the world.
The Green MotorSport Team 3 GB comprising Gordon Foat, driver, and Sebastian Barrett James co-pilot, has returned from WAVE 2016 having fully completed the tour visiting over 50 cities. We would like to thank all our dedicated Sponsors for their time and patience in making this possible. We couldn’t have achieved this without you! This year it was very important to have a National team and represent our country in electric mobility.
Green MotorSport is a member of the World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE), which every year drives around Europe powered by wind, sun or biomass energy. On the last WAVE, Gordon Foat drove his prototype service vehicle called the Tapir across 4,000 kilometers, including the highest point in Europe, powered by the sun. Continue Reading ->
Green MotorSport is preparing to launch its new drive train so that people can afford to have their own electric vehicles powered by energy from the sun or the wind. After 12 years of development and many years of thorough testing, including driving over some of the most difficult terrain in Europe, we are ready to evaluate our new cost effective motor technologies in a pre-production prototype in conjunction with several niche vehicle manufacturers. Battery electric vehicles are at least twice as efficient as internal combustion engine cars and we are working with suppliers of local renewable energy systems so that emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants can be virtually eliminated. Team Green MotorSport has returned after participating in the 5th World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE). Starting in Plauen near Berlin, 90 teams from all over the world drove across Europe powered by energy sourced from the sun or wind. They visited over 20 towns en route, giving presentations to local communities, businesses and schools. The Green MotorSport buggy called the Tapir, is seen here at the highest point in Europe at 2750 meters in the Italian Alps. Gordon Foat of Green MotorSport Limited was accompanied in Vehicle 1 on WAVE by Leora Rosner of the Growing Air Foundation. Growing Air Foundation (GAF) is a non-profit organization raising funds to replant forests that have been destroyed or degraded. Continue Reading ->
